Which bulb fitting do I need?
The two common UK fittings are bayonet (B22, push-and-twist) and Edison screw (E27, or the smaller E14). Fittings are stated on every listing — buying the wrong one is the most common lighting return.
How bright should a room light be?
Think lumens, not watts: roughly 1,500–3,000 lumens total for a living room, 3,000–4,000 for a kitchen. Warm white (2,700K) suits living rooms and bedrooms; cooler 4,000K suits kitchens and workspaces.
Can any ceiling light be dimmed?
Only if both the fitting and the bulb say so — LED bulbs must be explicitly 'dimmable', and they need an LED-compatible dimmer switch. Pairing a standard dimmer with non-dimmable LEDs causes the flicker and buzz people blame on the light.
