Why we rank it this way

Our default rating weights value for money and specification equally, then safety certification and how widely the product is stocked across retailers.

FAQs

What size power station do I need?
Match watt-hours to the job: ~250–500Wh runs phones, laptops and lights for a weekend; 1,000Wh+ handles a cool box or power tools; 2,000Wh+ approaches home-backup territory. Check the continuous output (W) covers your highest-draw device, not just the capacity.
LiFePO4 or standard lithium-ion?
LiFePO4 (LFP) packs survive roughly 3,000+ charge cycles versus ~500–1,000 for older lithium-ion, run cooler and hold value better — most newer power stations use it. The trade-off is a little more weight per watt-hour.
Do solar panels work in UK weather?
Yes, at reduced output — expect roughly 10–25% of rated wattage under cloud and most of the rating in direct summer sun. Panel efficiency matters less than simply sizing up: a 200W panel on a grey day still out-charges a 100W one.
